Communication Tools

Frank was admitted to the hospital with breathing difficulties. His doctor ordered him to take a medication called Bumex (one tablet, every other day).

And that's just what was written on Frank's medical chart. It read, "Bumex, one tablet, Q.O.D." ("Q.O.D." is the Latin abbreviation for "every other day").

When Frank was transferred to a skilled nursing facility, copies of his medical records were sent along with him, but his doctor's prescription was accidentally transcribed as "Bumex, one tablet, Q.I.D." ("Q.I.D." is the Latin abbreviation for "four times a day").

Instead of taking this powerful breathing medication one table, every other day (as originally prescribed), Frank unknowingly took it 4 times a day.

Several days later, Frank died.

Frank's story is an avoidable tragedy that strikes at the heart of how an innocent miscommunication with your doctor can cost you your life.

Day after day, week after week, thousands of people just like Frank get hopelessly trapped in what's called the "communication gap" of medicine. It happens just as often in your city as it does in mine.

My name is Brent Aleshire, and I'm President of Seminars for Health. I want to tell you about an affordable communication tool that will help you get back in control of all your health care needs and concerns.

It's called the Personal Health Care Journal and it is the fastest, easiest and most economical way to help you keep track of all your medical records, prescriptions and treatment plans. It was created with one purpose in mind:

To quickly and effectively bridge the "medical communication gap" between doctors and patients.

What is the "medical communication gap"?

It all starts when your doctor writes an illegible prescription. The pharmacist misreads the bad penmanship and fills your order inaccurately. The result? Well, YOU -- the patient -- proceed to take inaccurate medication dosages mistakenly!

No one really is to blame for what tragically happened to Frank. His nurse erroneously administered too much medicine simply because she couldn't read his doctor's handwriting. This innocent oversight could also happen to you or your loved-ones. In fact, it happens all the time. Consider this alarming statistic:

It is estimated that the misuse of out patient prescription drugs cost our health care system over $76.6 billion dollars each year. Also, approximately 28.2% of all hospital admissions are due to problems with the use of out patient medication.

But it doesn't stop there. Innocent miscommunications between patients and their doctors will account for over 98,000 innocent lives lost this year alone. That's a stadium full of people who die because of poor communication, not malpractice.

It's a shame, isn't it?

And if that's not bad enough, poor communication in the health care industry is even worse among older adults because studies show that senior citizens are less likely to ask questions, voice concerns, or address their fears about treatment plans.

As we grow older, health care play a much bigger role in our daily lives. We see our doctors more often. We take more medications. We require more tests. So the older we get, the more inquisitive we should become with our doctors.

FACT: Poor communication between physicians and patients is the single most common cause for malpractice litigation.
(Journal of the American Medical Association)

Do you want to see a real-life example of how a doctor's bad penmanship can have tragic consequences...just like what happened to Frank? Okay. Please go ahead and click here now...

Do you know what this is? It is an actual patient treatment plan in the physician's own writing! Can you make out what it says? I know I can't. How could any pharmacist, nurse or medical physician fill this prescription accurately?

They couldn't. No one could. Yet millions of prescriptions just like this one are filled every day. So, why would you put your health and life in jeopardy due to innocent miscommunications that you can control? You wouldn't, right? Fortunately, a health care journal is the simple solution to this problem.

The latest medical studies reveal that patients who use health care journals are more committed -- than journal non-users -- to actively participate in their own medical interviews. They stay healthier. And they live longer.

Health journal users not only have higher satisfaction rates with their treatment plan, they also recover faster than journal non-users. Journal users know that they are the ones -- not their doctors -- who are ultimately responsible for their health.

The Personal Health Care Journal is your quickest and easiest solution to practically eliminate the "medical communication gap" because it helps you to create a better partnership with your doctor...from the moment you use it!

As today's medical system gets more complex, it is becoming more important than ever before for you to take charge of your own health care. The Personal Health Care Journal is a time-proven first step to help you do just that.

Your Personal Health Care Journal not only encourages you to ask your physician more questions about your treatment plans, but it's also designed to remind you to ask the right questions. Better communication means better health.
